Bringing up neurodivergent children: living and loving...
Â
A series of 6 conversations with Claire Thurlby
This is not a course in which I am planning to teach you in the traditional sense. We are not doing anything traditional hereâŚ
My aim is share my experience and learning with you, from the perspective of being a teacher in a classroom, a SENDCo, a parent, a neurodivergent person myself, an educator who has a passion for clinical, neurodevelopmental understanding, but I think most helpful of all, a person who has been on this journey with countless families over 25 yearsâŚeach one has their unique story, but also shares a common interest â how do I help my young person.Â
These sessions will be full of my passion for you and your story and I will share some of my own.Â
There will be questions and answers and more questions, but we will develop those penny dropping moments ofâŚ.of âOh, that makes sense nowâÂ
I have journey with parents of young toddlers, to parents of university students, through SATS and GCSEs and A-Levels â from those who wonât get into bed, to those who wonât get out. From losing your rag, to always finding it again somehow.Â
One of our big topics throughout each week will be trust â which is something which works both ways in parenting.Â
And I hope very much that you will trust me, to be part of your journey.Â
See you on the course!
Â
Once you join the Conversations, you will have access to our Q and A forum.
Please do add any questions or discussion points you may like to be addressed within the conversation.
It will be helpful it you post these up to 24 hours before the Conversation is due to begin!
This space is available for everyone on the course to use, so any question posed will be available for all participants to see.

It's nice to meet you!
Hi, Iâm Claire. Â I taught as a mainstream primary school teacher, before swiftly focusing on Special Educational Needs, and embarking on a passionate career now spanning over 25 years.
I became a SEND Co-ordinator, working in a number of schools, before moving to be a Specialist Advisory Teacher for the Local Education Authority, and finally landing as head of Learning Support at St Faiths in Cambridge, where I led a team for 12 years, with half of that time working alongside this as the National Prep School Advisor for SEN. I am an experienced advisor and trainer for schools. I am also the current editor of the Learning Development section of âBroadsheetsâ Magazine, published by SATIPS (Support and Training in Prep, Primary and Senior Schools).
